After a few blissful minutes, we ended our FaceTime facial with another round of deep breaths. I was surprised by how relaxed I felt immediately afterward. I also noticed my puffiness had gone down considerably and the glow, which I admit could partially be attributed to the slick of oil on my face, was undeniable. Most notably, I was calmer and less clenched.
In Los Angeles, there are about as many facialists promising that coveted “Hollywood glow” as there are palm trees dotting Sunset boulevard. But only one of them is continually entrusted with the faces of YouTube’s biggest beauty vloggers, from Patrick Starr and James Charles to Desi Perkins and Nicol Concilio. Yolanda Mata, more endearingly referred to as Yoli Glo (her Instagram handle) may not have her own spa or skin care line like many of her fellow celebrity estheticians (yet) but her unique treatments are just as sought after. But it’s not because she's got the fanciest gadgets or the latest buzzy ingredients — Mata doesn’t even use a steam machine when extracting blackheads — it’s the entire experience itself, coupled with the fact that her clients emerge from her hands red carpet-ready, no downtime needed.

LOS ANGELES TIMES “Getting the glow before walking the red carpet is essential,” said facialist Yolanda Mata. “If you have on a lot of makeup and your skin is not hydrated and polished, it’s not going to look good.”
Taking a holistic approach to skin care, Mata offers tea and antioxidant-packed snacks like blueberries before the start of the 90-minute Yoliglo Experience. The Tatcha brand ambassador also uses an array of Tatcha skin care to gently exfoliate, hydrate, massage and de-puff the skin.
At the very end, Mata does acupressure on the face with 24-karat gold-leafed sticks that have a thermal core. “They hold heat or they hold cold,” she said. “Sometimes I do [the acupressure] cold if you have a lot puffiness under the eyes. The warmth is also good to de-stress, and I push them in the temples.”
She’s known as Tatcha’s “fairy glow-mother” and her hands have worked on some of the most famous faces in the world from A-listers to influencers like James Charles and Patrick Starr. If you’ve seen an Instagram of them with a purple face mask on, odds are it’s courtesy of esthetician Yolanda Mata, also known by her Instagram handle YoliGlo. And I recently got to experience her magic hands for myself.
ELITE DAILY— LA is a hotspot for some of the best beauty treatments in the country. As a beauty fanatic myself, I've made it a personal mission of mine to try out all of the treatments that are unique to LA.
By far, my favorite has been the facial I had with Yoli (aka, Yoli Glo). Her gentle hands and slow approach gave me the most glowing skin I've ever had in my life, and I'm itching to go back for another facial.
GLAMOUR— Ahead, we asked a mix of makeup artists, aestheticians, dermatologists, and our team of beauty editors for their all-time best glowy skin tips that actually give results—both long-term and short; for your face and your body—no matter your level of dedication or skill.
THE FASIONISTA— "I could wax poetic about Yoli's facials for days. There is a reason she has become the go-to facialist for many beauty YouTubers and Hollywood actresses in LA. Her facials are unlike your traditional spa treatment — she first welcomes you with homemade tea or cider and cookies before spending over an hour poring over, well, every pore on your face. Yoli doesn't use any fancy gadgets or even a steamer during her facials — just her hands, her favorite Tatcha products and two Akari gold-leaf covered acupressure sticks to encourage lymphatic drainage in your face. After the facial, you'll leave with a glow-y and clear complexion fit for the red carpet."
No matter how many amazing facials I have, I will always go back to Yoli. As a matter of fact, I've seen her at least six times in the past year since I moved to LA. Not only does she give me facials that make my face glow so bright, but Yoli is truly one of the kindest, warmest people I've ever met.
She usually has her clients come to her home for facials, which is where I always go to see her. It's a beautiful oasis of greenery, crystals, and decor from all over the globe that makes you feel so zen when you walk in. She always has a spread of yummy snacks like Jordan almonds and shortbread cookies, and she makes her own custom tea blend to match whatever season it is. She's truly an angel sent from heaven and I can't praise her — or her space — enough.
ELLE- Yolanda Mata, better known by her Instagram handle, Yoli Glo, is sought after by YouTube stars like Patrick Starrr and Desi Perkins. She recommends prepping skin for makeup with Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream, saying, "it's a deeply hydrating formula that glides onto the skin providing nourishment and hydration, while the Japanese purple rice leaves the skin glowing, protected, and prepared for smooth makeup application." She also adds, "it's something no one should live without, worth every penny." Consider us sold.
